In a city of universities, NYU is the big man on campus. Fordham glances over at it nervously, Columbia buttons itself up in Morningside Heights, and Pratt is too busy being awesome to really care. We would normally condemn NYU for being so freaking cocky, but the fact is, ever since Rick Rubin launched Def Jam with Russel Simmons out of his NYU dorm room back in the day...we simply can't take our eyes off of it. Recently, we've been hearing murmurs about these four young producers at NYU who have been throwing beats around Washington Square Park. Collectively, they make up Grand Staff -- a DJ/Producer posse that is putting out the music that is turning heads. On May 1st, they celebrate their one-year anniversary at LOVE with special DJ sets, surprise guests, and giveaways. Peep this quick....before Grand Staff launches the next generation of Beastie Boys, LL Cool Js, and Run DMCs, and you are left wondering why movements seem to happen without you.
